Big Wave are  supporting the Shark Trust UK’s  ‘No Limits?’ campaign to introduce better protection for sharks. An online ‘thunderclap’ campaign launched during the shows transmission reached over 11 million people & was supported by Richard Branson, Gordon Ramsay & many others.

NHN Corporate Members' Talesmith, and Dream Reality Interactive have come together in association with Factory 42 in a new world-first interactive virtual reality experience. Users will get ‘hands-on’ access to rare objects, while a three-dimensional hologram of Sir David offers his own unique insight on each specimen in a one-on-one interactive experience.

In Hold the World, Sir David and the Natural History Museum will be brought together using a combination of interactive video game technology and TV documentary. For the first time ever, Sir David will be transformed into a hologram and will guide participants to virtually ‘handle’ ancient fossils and specimens, using his passion for the natural world to bring the objects to life.

 

Talesmith have been jointly commissioned along with Coffee & TV through their SPV FLYRIDE, by P.E.L Creative to create a giant screen immersive film experience. The film is being specially made for a brand new visitors’ centre being built at the Changbaishan National Park in China by Legend Tourism Investment . It will offer a unique 4D perspective on an environment rich in natural history in this area of outstanding natural beauty.

Maramedia launches children's brand "Marakids" with unique pre-school viking series Gudrun the Viking Princess for Cbeebies .

They are also thrilled to announce an Emmy nomination for Ewan McGregor's narration of their latest series 'Highlands -  Scotland’s Wild Heart '- known internationally as Wild Scotland. This is a great achievement for a small indie.

The Maramedia team are having a busy summer out filming with teams in Shetland and Iceland capturing material for our current productions: Wild way of the Vikings and Shetland - Scotland’s Viking Frontier. As with any filming in the Northern Hemisphere the wildlife is always at its most busy in June with seabird colonies at full pace and young animals emerging everywhere. Looking forward to sharing it with you soon.

We are also very excited by our move into a new area of production - announcements to follow shortly!

 

Maramedia are excited to be embarking on first day of shooting for “Wild Way of the Vikings” - a new project blending spectacular wildlife in a historical context. They are also thrilled to announced the project (which is a collaboration between PBS, ORF, BBC Scotland and France 5)  has  been successful in its application for EU funding which will be critical in supporting the project and a timely reminder of the importance of the EU to production sector.

Principal Large Format (PLF) was founded in 1998 by present CEO Phil Streather. PLF is a production company dedicated to developing and producing: Giant Screen (IMAX) features, Theatrical Documentary features and UHD TV.

Phil is currently in development on a number of Giant Screen 3D films, including The Bumblebee Queen  (www.bumblebeequeen.co.uk); a follow up to his 2003 IMAX hit, Bugs! 3D, narrated by Judi Dench. Bugs! has grossed over $50m at the global box office and won awards at Jackson and Wildscreen.

Throughout 2012 Phil was a consultant to BBC Earth. In his capacity of Director of Giant Screen and Museum Films he advised on all aspects of their move into the Giant Screen 3D business. At the same time Phil worked with the BBC Natural History Unit as Stereoscopic Supervisor on the ground breaking Tiny Giants 3D, which delivered in 2014. Tiny Giants 3D received a 3D documentary award from the International 3D Society in Los Angeles in January 2015 and another in December 2015. Phil won the inaugural 3D Guild Award for his work as stereo supervisor on Tiny Giants 3D.

Phil is a board member of the Giant Screen Cinema Association, a full voting member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and regularly chairs/produces/participates in panels on Giant Screen and 3D.
