Tigress Productions has a worldwide reputation for outstanding and innovative programmes. The Company makes a wide range of adventure, science, and wildlife documentaries, from the extraordinary series following climbers on Everest for Discovery to rigging remote control cameras around a dead hippo to see what comes to eat the two million calorie feast.
From its early beginnings making its acclaimed celebrity wildlife series, In the Wild, Tigress is now one of Britain's largest and best known specialist factual producers working with most major UK and international broadcasters. Its programmes have won numerous prestigious awards working with presenters and Hollywood stars such as Julia Roberts, Robin Williams, and Ewan McGregor. Among its outstanding shows are ultra real survival series Alone in the Wild, adventure wildlife programmes Freddie Flintoff Goes Wild, nature mystery series Nature Shock, hundreds of One Show features, multi award winning documentary Titus the gorilla and Ben’s Zoo which grew into “We Bought A Zoo” starring Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson. Established in 1991 it is now part of Endemol.
Tigress Productions are delighted to announce some exciting company news. A Year In The Wild: Loch Lomond – Spring has just been nominated in the final shortlist of 4 for Best Natural History Documentary at the Grierson Awards 2016.
Considered as the Oscars of the documentary world, the Grierson Awards celebrate the best in documentary film-making and so this is a huge achievement for Series Producer/Director, Duncan Chard, and his top team from across the series. Other special mentions on this first episode go to camera team, Simon Niblett and Julz Braatvedt, Steve White sat in the editor’s chair, researcher Rebecca Payne, production manager Tina Razdan, Head of Production Fiona Marsh, and Executive Producers Dick Colthurst and Melanie Darlaston from Group M. Congratulations to them all.
The winner will be revealed at the awards ceremony being held at The Mermaid in Blackfriars, London, on Monday 7th November 2016.
John Bishop's Gorilla Adventure won Best Popular Broadcast at Wildscreen 2016. The show was SP'd by Sarah Peart
Tigress Productions is pleased to announce that John Bishop’s Gorilla Adventure has been nominated in the 2016 Wildscreen Panda Awards.
The programme has been nominated in the Popular Broadcast Award category. The film shows John Bishop coming face to face with Rwanda’s Mountain Gorillas, one of the world’s most endangered animals. While embedded with the Gorilla Doctors – a team of vets who treat the gorillas in their natural habitat – John discovers just what it takes to save this extraordinary species.
The winners will be announced at an Awards Ceremony being held on Thursday 13th October as part of the 2016 Wildscreen Festival in Bristol.
All change at Tigress

Tigress Productions, one of the leading producer of innovative adventure, wildlife, specialist factual, features and factual entertainment programming, today announce changes to the leadership team.
Following a career spanning 35 years, including twelve at Tigress Productions as Managing Director, Dick Colthurst, has decided to retire from television in the autumn to live in the Alps.
Stepping into the MD role, and joining the existing management team, is Sarah Swingler who has been an Executive Producer with sister company, Dragonfly, for six years, recently heading up the Cardiff based operation of Dragonfly West.
Also joining Tigress Productions is Catherine Welton from RDF West, who has been appointed Creative Director. This post was formerly held by Pete Lawrence who joined Tigress in December 2013 with a remit to expand the company’s innovative features and factual entertainment programming. After the success of his first book, ‘The Allotment Cookbook’, Pete recently left the company to pursue his own television and writing projects.
Loch Lomond: A year in the Wild TX'd November 10th 2015
Channel Five, “Loch Lomond: A year in the Wild”, is TXd in November on Channel 5. This is currrently the highest rating show on Channel 5 ! And there is another in the pipeline !

New Natural History Commissions
ITV commissions Tigress Productions to make John Bishop’s Gorilla Adventure. John Bishop is making a wildlife documentary for ITV, tracking mountain gorillas in Rwanda.
In the hour-long documentary, made with Tigress Productions, the comedian discovers the endangered species has a lot in common with his teenage sons: ‘Bulging muscles but no sense. Plus they fart, flirt and pick their noses.’
New Offices for Tigress!
We are now firmly ensconced in our lovely new offices at Embassy House, just off the Triangle and are in a busy phase of production. Everyone here is loving the light and bright atmosphere with plenty of lovely windows and great spaces for meetings and brainstorms.The One Show
