The 21st Century Fox-owned brand is looking at “all sorts of digital opportunities”, according to global networks chief executive Courteney Monroe.

Monroe, speaking ahead of her keynote speech at the Edinburgh International TV Festival, told Broadcast that a standalone SVoD service is something the business is “talking about and looking at”.

The move comes as a number of Nat Geo’s major US rivals aggressively adopt a direct-to-consumer policy: Discovery has launched a number of services around the world, while Disney revealed that it would cut ties with Netflix to launch its own SVoD platforms.
